ACT 2: Curriculum

Our Philosophy, “Preparing you for LIFE through the ARTS & HISTORY!”, inspires our team to achieve our company’s goal to provide the most positive and joyful learning experiences for children enrolled in our classes, while developing in each a more in-depth knowledge of themselves, others, and the beautiful and expressive world of the Arts.

Our exciting curriculum encourages CREATIVITY! Movement, laughter and FUN are always part of our lessons. Students practice various life and academic skills through a unique blend of stories, songs and drama in a learning environment that is resource-rich and always developmentally appropriate.

New in 2010 - S.H.I.N.E.

ACT's S.H.I.N.E. prepares K1 and K2 preschool children for the Ministry of Education STELLAR program for Primary 1 in 2010.

According to a speech by Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Education, STELLAR "aims to strengthen oral language, grammar and reading skills" of lower primary students.

ACTs S.H.I.N.E. Programme is based on the STELLAR pedagogical model and lesson structure:

• Learning is reinforced with stories, group writing, speaking through role-playing, targeted word sound & listening activities, and some practice materials.
  
• Children participate for 30 minutes a week in S.H.I.N.E.'s focused skill development program.
• This 30 minute focus session will be added to K1 and K2 S&D classes on the same scheduled day.
